Flowering Dogwood Tree Seed Packet

One packet includes 20+ seeds

Pour your seeds into your planting bed and spread them out. Cover the seeds with a thin layer of soil. Don’t get too carried away – ¼ inch of soil is all you need. Give the seeds a good thorough watering once you’re done with planting. Regular watering is necessary but avoid doing it too frequently. Let the soil almost completely dry out before watering it again. To prevent your seeds from rotting, ensure the water drainage is good.

The best time to plant flowering dogwood tree seeds is late winter or early spring.

Flowering dogwood grows on average about 20 ft., sometimes taller. It can be a single or multi-trunked tree. It has very long-lasting, showy, white and pink spring blooms. Beautiful flowers, red fruits; and scarlet-red fall foliage are among its beautiful characteristics.

The Perkins Local School Board was gracious enough to allow the Neidler Family to plant a flowering dogwood tree along Scott Fry Lane in April 2023 in remembrance of Regan. A crowd of family and friends gathered at the tree on April 23rd, the one year anniversary of Regan’s passing. The Neidlers chose this specific tree because of its symbolism and beautiful colors. The flowering dogwood will bloom white petals in the Spring, around the time of Regan’s passing (April) and will turn to a deep red in the fall, around the time of Regan’s birthday (October).

In remembrance of Regan, you may consider planting a Flowering Dogwood tree on your property.

Flowering dogwoods have several symbolic meanings. Cornus florida flowers are strongly associated with rebirth, renewal, and resurrection. This stems partly from their link to Christianity but also because the flowers emerge in the spring.

Flowering dogwoods also represent qualities like durability, strength, reliability, and resilience. This can be attributed to flowering dogwood’s exceptionally hard, strong wood. Flowering dogwoods can help communicate strength and solidarity to someone struggling with difficult circumstances.

As legend has it, the cross on which Jesus was crucified was made from a dogwood tree. God decreed that the dogwood tree would from that day forth never grow large enough to be used to make a cross. Its four large petals represent the cross he died upon, and each petal displays four red-tinged notches that are said to represent four nail holes.
